Facial Toners Are Very Much Needed.

A toner is a water-based liquid with a consistency like vinegar that contains active ingredients to help address specific issues. “Not only does it remove debris like oil and traces of makeup, but it soothes, repairs, and smooths the skin’s surface—diminishing blemishes and minimizing signs of redness and inflammation”. Since the product itself is meant to absorb and control all of the dirt and oil clogged deeply into our pores, toner is only necessary for those with greasy or acne-prone skin, right? Wrong. Today’s toners are high quality and made with many of the same ingredients you might find in your other skin-care products. Some of the best toners for acne-prone skin contain exfoliating ingredients like amino fruit acids or glycolic acid, while toners made for sensitive skin types are made with soothing thermal spring water.

After cleansing your skin, pour two to three drops onto a cotton pad—this works best because it doesn’t absorb too much of the liquid and easily transfers product to your face. Make sure you get enough product on the cotton pad so that it feels damp but not too wet so that you’re wasting the liquid.  Smooth a small amount across your face, neck, and décolletage, adding enough pressure to reach deep into your pores but not too much force so as to pull at the skin.

While it’s true that overuse of toners can cause your pores to overproduce oil—a natural defense mechanism when your glands feel too stripped of moisture—it’s safe to apply both morning and night, especially if you’re oily. Use it directly after you cleanse your face, before any serums and treatment products, as a second defense against that dirt and grease. If your skin is on the drier side, stick to using toner just at night. By doing so, you’ll be removing any pore-clogging impurities that will further saturate your skin during your eight hours of snooze time and instead help your skin in its nightly renewal process.

The bottom line: The next time you’re wondering whether or not you really need to add another step to your skin-care routine, remember not to tune out toner. It eliminates dirt, grease, and grime to help clear your complexion and make the rest of your products work better.

Keeping The Skin Clean And Clear.

Its very important to keep your skin clean and clear. Not for just the purpose of modeling but to prevent spotting, black heads, etc. I have done a lot of models for photo-shoots and a lot of people would rather buy a beautiful pair of shoes than to take care of there skin. There are a lot of professional products to buy to do at home such as masks.  Neutrogena, Roden+Fields, L’Oreal, etc all have good products to clean the skin of black heads and excessive sebum.  You just have to go and buy one that works for you.

I have decide to try the Roden+Fields Mask for my client, now just wait!  I am not selling this product in my salon.  Nor do I sell this product. I am only seeing how good it works.  My client who has mature skin and blemishes is my model for the treatment and I have advised her to use it twice a week.  I instructed my client to use the following and in the proper steps.

  1. Wash the face with Gentle Creme Wash everyday.
  2.  Apply the Daily Cleansing Mask as per instruction from the manufacturer.
  3. Wash off the mask and apply Moisture Replenishing Creme

We will see in a 30 day experiment the results.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes Thumbs Up!

It is a must to start off with a clean makeup free face! That is why I recommend Neutrogena makeup wipes.  A must in every bathroom and makeup case.

  • Gentle enough for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers
  • Works on waterproof mascara
  • Helps leave skin clean and fresh in 1 easy step
  • Leaves behind no heavy residue

The makeup wipes are cost effective and we all know we are always buying supply’s for the salon our kits or the bathroom. I rely on this product and it does the job. I have been using these for years and I feel they are the best makeup remover out there. Works for eye makeup and has never irritated my skin or eyes. The opposite actually: very nourishing. I use half a towel per use, so they last a pretty long time!  It’s just a breeze with these wipes. They completely take off every trace of make up, including waterproof anything and leave my  clients skin soft not greasy.

After removing the makeup I also use Neutrogena  Deep Clean Gentle Scrub a lovely and gentle cleanser for the skin. Neutrogena Deep Clean Gentle Scrub is the daily cleansing scrub with Beta Hydroxy proven to clean deep down into your pores, yet is gentle enough to use every day. Skin looks and feels soft and smooth after just one use. Beta Hydroxy formula penetrates deep into pores to remove blackhead causing dirt and oil. Gentle micro beads exfoliate dull, dead surface skin. It’s rich foaming creamy lather rinses clean. Skin is instantly softer, smoother, healthier looking and refreshed. Dermatologist tested formula. Non-comedogenic.

  • Microbeads gently exfoliate

And when all of these process are finished I like to use a toner on the face especially if the client has oily skin. I then turn to my trusted ally. Neutrogena Alcohol Free Toner.

Gentle non-stinging formula won’t strip skin of its natural moisturizers. Neutrogena alcohol free toner is specially formulated to provide clean, refreshing toning without the harsh effects of alcohol. Special mild purifiers gently remove impurities and recondition your skin. And because it is alcohol-free, this formula will not strip delicate facial skin of its own natural moisturizers. Your skin will feel fresh and clean without tightness, dryness or stinging.

And that is how I prep my faces for makeup services!
